They keep telling me I was born guilty Try to shackle, chain and break me Two generations have betrayed us Have left only scorched earth and thus… These are the ruins And this is the way To the light, out of darkness Nevermore, lead astray These are the ruins And this is the way Out of damnation On to victory day Far beyond the point for negotiation In the dusty remains of a former nation No honor and just thieves among us We’ve got nothing left to lose and thus… These are the ruins And this is the way Standing together One and all, come what may These are the ruins And this is the way Straight through the fire On to victory day Our future is a ruse and our past is a lie In the hour, the eleventh, pulled the wool from our eye Born too late to save it all but revenge belongs to us Heard the call, took up the gauntlet and thus… These are the ruins And this is the way See the light in the darkness Nevermore, lead astray These are the ruins And this is the way Gather the forces All and one, make them pay These are the ruins And this is the way After the fire We’ll see their judgement day These are the ruins And this is the way Out of damnation On to victory day

White Blossoms Wide with anticipation Swelling drone of bees. In the humid dawn Fleecy clouds move slowly by April's crescent moon. Suddenly mountains Appearing, disappearing Lightning silhouettes. Circles expanding One ring into another Puddles in the rain. In the spring twilight All that remains this day The nightingale song This morning at dawn A joyful promise of Spring Canada Geese honking. A windy Spring day. Small sailboats in the distance Bobbing on the waves. In the late Spring night, A brainless dog barking At its own echo. White Blossoms Wide with anticipation Swelling drone of bees.

Here’s to the men who’ve fought and died, To keep our country free. For if they’d waved the flag of truce, We’d fall to tyranny. History’s been plagued by wars, Since the world began. They’ve gained the right for us to stay free, In our native land. Heroes who have fought these wars, In Valhalla they’ll reside. For from their flaming funeral pyre, Their souls sail with the tide. The world will always be plagued by wars, ‘Til the end of time. To lose a battle without a fight, Would be our greatest crime.

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure." Thomas Jefferson to W. S. Smith, 13 November 1787 Verse: So thirsty for many years But the calls fell on deaf ears Thus always (1) – to water the tree (2) But you thought you’d keep it all for free Chorus: Squandered away What they left you to hold and to guard An oath to betray Squandered away The ruins all ashen and charred Just wasted the day "If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be." Thomas Jefferson to Colonel Charles Yancey, 6 January 1816 Never thought it would fall Never thought you’d lose it all Didn’t heed the gun – advise (3) Didn’t want to pay the price Chorus: Squandered away What they left you to hold and to guard An oath to betray Squandered away The ruins all ashen and charred Just wasted the day "To attain all this, however, rivers of blood must yet flow, and years of desolation pass over; yet the object is worth rivers of blood, and years of desolation." Thomas Jefferson to John Adams, 4 September 1823 Verse: Dissolution (4) – but just for you And all your power they took that too No rights to claim (5) – just bend the knee You broke the axiom of liberty (6) Chorus: Squandered away What they left you to hold and to guard An oath to betray Squandered away The ruins all ashen and charred Just wasted the day What’s left to say But a curse to the end of the earth To see their decay What’s left to say If there are any left of some worth Somehow make them pay “I like the dreams of the future better than the history of the past.” Thomas Jefferson to John Adams, August 1, 1816 Footnotes: *********** (1) Sic semper tyrannis -> thus always to tyrants (2) The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. (Thomas Jefferson) (3) As to the species of exercise, I advise the gun. (Thomas Jefferson) (4) When the representative body have lost the confidence of their constituents, when they have notoriously made sale of their most valuable rights, when they have assumed to themselves powers which the people never put into their hands, then indeed their continuing in office becomes dangerous to the state, and calls for an exercise of the power of dissolution. (Thomas Jefferson) (5) A free people [claim] their rights, as derived from the laws of nature, and not as the gift of their chief magistrate. (Thomas Jefferson) (6) It is an axiom in my mind, that our liberty can never be safe but in the hands of the people themselves, and that too of the people with a certain degree of instruction. This it is the business of the State to effect, and on a general plan. (Thomas Jefferson)

Always heading for the abyss Following the sound of the pipe No brake and no rest No questions, nevermore And the pressure heavily weighs ... So arbitrarily and indiscriminately Do it all …without me Spies have spotted me Are eagerly writing the report And it doesn't matter, who rubberstamps it Tribunal or court of law Here I stand, can do no other ... Pastoral … solemnly Do it all without me No cut and no jab Do it all …without me All without me No voice, no sound Felt it from the start Never trusted any count Investigate what is hidden and forbidden Who …could be behind it? It was voted, with a questionable majority But do it all without me The opposite of freedom Do it all ... but without me I am telling you, emphatically Do it all without me Let's put an end to this Do it all …without me All without me
