I don’t share your views. You won’t force me to. Whatever you do to me it won’t change the number of fingers you are holding up. You may want me to say ‘five’ but there are ‘four’. No amount of repetition and overwhelming propaganda will let me accept falsehoods and distortions as truths.

I disagree. I dissent. I oppose. I reject.

You told me not to question. But I reserve that right. You told me to respect and adhere to truths protected by laws and shielded by a vigilant establishment. But I disagree. You created the dissident. You made me the denier. Being told that one is not allowed to criticize someone or something is the clearest sign of a weak argument.

I contradict. I diverge. I deny. I reject.

The persecuted dissident will not see the error of his ways through the oppression and victimization he endures. To the contrary. The reprisals will be seen as confirmation and validation. The suppression of information makes the information more attractive to the yet uninformed and casual reader, listener or viewer.
